Almost daily we block new users from several spam domains who are trying to post comments (automated) to embed links to what I assume are their clients web sites. The comments generally go along the lines of "Thank you for such wonderful information ..." or something equally inane, and embedded within is a link to a cut-rate mortgage company or report writing service etc.
Let me make myself perfectly clear. We delete these comments as soon as we find them, and block the users who have posted them on EVERY SITE WE HOST!
We also get the emails from so-called SEO firms who are offering to do the same thing on our behalf to improve our search engine ranking. These parasites make their money and their scams give SEO a bad name.
For example, if you sell NHL jerseys, start a blog to talk about it. Make it original content, and insert all the links back to your site (in context) that you wish. That is valid, and exactly what blog-it.ca was designed to do. If, however, you embed your links in a plagiarized ramble about how to wear high-heeled shoes, and attach it as a comment on an article that has nothing to do with either jerseys or shoes, the comment will be deleted and your user account will be blocked. (Real example!)
We encourage people to use this site. We will not tolerate mis-use. If you are going to make the effort, why not do it right?
