Canadians Misled by CBC and Canadian Geographic

Top Ten Farmers Markets: BuyFromTheFarm.ca Issues Media Challenge

A CBC.ca article entitled “3 Maritime farmers' markets among top 10 across Canada” refers to an article in Canadian Geographic saying: “The magazine published its list of the top 10 farmers' markets...” Canadian Geographic has in fact published Anita Stewart's top ten favourite farmers' markets.

“Prolific cookbook author, culinary activist and regional foods champion Anita Stewart digs into Canada’s bumper crop of farmers’ market” --Canadian Geographic.

Because many readers hang off of the words of writers, these authors need to word their opinions more carefully, or at the very least, offer the basic criteria on which their opinion is based.

Which is the best? The real story about Canadian farmers markets has yet to be written. In a country as vast as Canada, one could spend many years visiting the more than 550 farmers' markets to be found here. BuyFromTheFarm.ca recently asked its members and readers to vote on their favourite markets.

BuyFromTheFarm.ca challenges the CBC and Canadian Geographic to seek out the truth about which Market is the best, a vox populi on the subject; not one persons voice influencing the masses, but the masses voicing their opinions. A voting system has been put in place for that purpose. “Vote on-line for your Favourite Farmers' Market at BuyFromTheFarm.ca.”
