Policy

Our policies are simple. Behave yourself, and respect others.

Email

We require confirmed email addresses to be able to communicate with our users about their content or their accounts. Accounts will not be activated until the email address has been confirmed. We will never share or sell these email addresses to another party, nor will we use them as the basis of third-party email programs.

We will, however, cooperate fully with law enforcement on the presentation of a warrant or subpoena for this information.

Un-Acceptable Content

We will not tolerate any content which may, in our judgement, be classified as:

  • Pornographic representations involving minors
  • Hate mongering, no matter what the target demographic
  • Fraud, including appeals to financial assistance, invitations to gamble, patently false offers of improvements to sex life, bank account, etc.

If your blog is erotic in nature, we will not block it if you are making a point. Keep it classy and avoid vulgarities and you will be fine. Make it disgusting and it will disappear.

Copyrighted material may only be posted under fair comment restrictions, and full citation or attribution must be given. If you plagiarize, the offending content will be removed when it is brought to our attention.

Copyright

Blog-It.ca does not accept responsibility for the content of this sight, except for that which we have created. User submissions are the responsibility of the user, and Blog-It.ca and their heirs and assigns accept no responsibility for the posting, or the consequences that might arise from that posting, except to remove the offending material when requested.

Blog-It.ca assumes that the user is the author of their own posts, and that they have the right to publish the material. We also assume that, by posting the material on Blog-It.ca, the user ahs assign to Blog-it.ca the right or license to further publish and distribute the material, through our RSS feeds, or otherwise, to third parties, and that the right to redistribute and the right to assign the right to redistribute, is also passed to the third party.

Spam

We have taken steps to try to eliminate spam listings by restricting each user to one external blog listing in our directory. We hope that this will discourage those who would try to lessen the value of our site. We use a turing engine called CAPTCHA to try to prevent automated submissions. The site is TrackBack enabled, but we only accept reciprocal trackbacks.

Nevertheless, spammers are persistent. If you see any spam on our site, please notify us using the Contact Form ad it will be removed.

Please be careful classifying your listing. If you do not see an appropriate category, put it in the nearest match, and suggest appropriate subcategories using the Contact Form, mentioning your listing in the message. We will review the suggestion, and probably create the categories.

Listings which are not appropriate to the categories in which they appear will be suspended.

Showcase

New blog listings will be displayed as New Listings for 30 days, and will be kept in our classified directory.

All Directory links are checked on a regular schedule, so if your blog disappears, the listing wll be removed automatically.

Articles from the blogs listed in our Directory will be shown for one week. RSS feeds are checked every hour.

Directory Classification

We have been dismayed at blog directories we have found. Either they use the DMOZ classification system, which is NOT suitable for blogs, or they use a free form system with a chaotic assortment of top-level categories that render the directory unusable.

Our Directory will use a 1 to 10 rule. We will try, within reason, to limit each level to about ten categories, giving a user a more intuitive way to find content.

Support

We welcome donations to help us fund the maintenance and hosting of this site. Any amount given will be gratefully received and faithfully applied. We provide you with a PayPal Donate button, and we shamelessly ask that you consider using it if you are able.

Proceed with your $10 payment

We also subscribe to AdSense in the hope that enough users will click on an ad to justify the bandwidth involved. We are willing to discuss paid advertising with anyone who would like to advertise on Blog-It.ca.

Even if you cannot afford to send money, please send traffic. List your blog, and let your social networks know that you are listed here.
