Roger Monahan

I am a programmer/analyst with over 30 years experience. Beginning in the COBOL and Assembler world, and moving into enterprise data modelling and database design, I have seen the development of the computer as a lifestyle.

The internet is still in its teens. Like any unruly teenager, it is experiencing its growing pains and skinned knees. We learn from our mistakes, and move on with the new knowledge.

Today the internet has become a worldwide community. Discussions that started on locally hosted BBS's migrated to UseNet, IRC, Forums, Organic Groups, and now are based in blogs and social networking sites. The sense of community has grown, and recent advances in web technology have made interactive sites possible.

We can now participate in web sites, and even aggregate our contributions, and the contributions of others, on several different sites. We can tell our friends how to find us, and recommend things to them, all supported by software developed to support this community.

This site is both a challenge and a dream. To give users access to categorized information, without its dilution by spammers, and to present a new way of doing things, is the goal of every directory site developer. To do this, we have moved away from the standard directory packages, used by every one else, and have attempted to use a fresh approach.

I hope you like it and participate. Let me know what you think.
