Some are big. Some are small. No matter what shape it has finally taken, the dwelling that you live in is a basic box, or a series of boxes. Built plumb, level and square it should provide adequate safe living for you and your family for a long period of time.
Most reputable builders star out building your home with a well crafted design and structure. However due to circumstances beyond their control such as age, maintenance and ground conditions, things change. The earth is a living thing it moves and shifts in peculiar ways, causing structural changes to your house. The major problem is that due to the lack of observation, on our parts, these changes go unnoticed or rather unrecognized until something major happens. Not everyone is an expert with home maintenance and repair and I am not an expert either although I do have a good understanding of what happens to our houses.
All to often I hear "The house wasn't built very well" I think the house was built to standards set out in the building codes which are far to minimal for the stresses of the life of a house.
